A Happy Breast Cancer
Survivor Story

How Jennifer kept so well to survive
her Breast Cancer with energy and
a new attitude to life.

Jennifer Coverley lives in Fremantle, Western Australia, and is one of the many breast cancer survivors who followed the same health regimen of high-potency nutritional supplements to achieve her happy outcome.

This is Jennifer's story in her own words.

I was under the shower one morning when I felt a lump under my arm. It was the size of a grape. Disbelief, fear and denial all battled for supremacy in my mind. I had only had a mammogram 9 months before!

But it was real.

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 oestrogen receptor breast cancer. However, this was 'good news' apparently, because it was one of the more treatable types of cancer.

I was very fortunate in having dear friends who gave me their unconditional support.

I was also introduced to the idea that disease is created by ourselves as the body's way of drawing our attention to the fact that our lives are out of balance; we are not at ease with ourselves for some reason. Something is out of whack and needs attention.

My 'dis-ease', I believed, was due to the fact that all my life I had been a 'people pleaser'. I could never say 'no' or speak my mind in case I hurt someone's feelings.

My own feelings were suppressed and buried under all my good intentions. This created a volcano of suppressed emotions, resentments and frustration that eventually erupted in the form of breast cancer.

'To thine own self be true' is a philosophy we should all follow, for if we cannot be true to ourselves, how can we be true to each other and to life?

A fortunate introduction ...

On the physical side, I was again fortunate to be introduced to the concept of High-Potency Nutrition and the vital role it plays in either maintaining or destroying our health.

I've always been a naturally healthy eater, but again, understanding what goes on in our bodies and what our cells (the basic units of life) need to do the job they were designed to do, i.e. keep us strong and healthy, cleared away any confusion and lit the path I had to follow very brightly.

A month or two earlier I had been introduced to a brand of nutritional supplements that are rated No.1 in the world by an independent scientific survey, and I was already using them when I was diagnosed.

I simply increased my dosages of the recommended supplements in accordance with information I got passed on from Dr Strand's website, to help combat the extra oxidative stress my body would be going through with the cancer treatments.

As a side-note: Recently I have learnt that cancer can take up to 20 years to grow in the body before it manifests itself. Help! All the more reason for HEALTHY people to do everything they can to PROTECT their good health by taking high-potency supplements every day!

Uplifting the spirit ...

On the mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual side of things, I give credit to the love and support I received from my friends and loved ones, in addition to the skill, kindness, generosity and overall support of the doctors and staff of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. They were wonderful!

And the books, DVDs, CDs and other resources that were shared with me by those who walked the journey with me, were an inspiration.

For example, I was introduced to that wonderful DVD, 'The Secret'. If you haven't already seen it, I cannot recommend it for Breast Cancer patients strongly enough.

I watched it almost weekly, until its teachings were imprinted on my awareness.

'The Secret' gave me the strength, courage and understanding to examine my life, realise what had caused my 'dis-ease' and turn things around so I do not repeat my mistakes.

When you understand the 'whys' it's so much easier to make the corrections.

It was all these elements coming together that I believe helped me overcome my 'dis-ease' and made my breast vancer journey comparatively easy and stress-free.

Enduring the cancer treatments...

I sailed through my cancer therapies of chemotherapy and radiation with barely a hiccup. Just the occasional bout of fatigue a couple of days after chemo. Then back to normal.

Radiation took a bit more out of me - a few aches and pains, but nothing worth noting. I used the cream recommended by the hospital to try and minimise the burning. However, a friend who used Pawpaw Ointment experienced no burns whatsoever.

Yes, I lost all my hair. But, it grew back thicker, softer and curlier even before the chemo sessions had ended. You can see what it looks like in the recent photo. (Another reason to smile, huh?!)

Everybody, including my doctors, were amazed at how strong and healthy I remained throughout my breast cancer treatments. My oncologist, on receiving the results of my blood tests said: "Your bloods are perfect - better than most normal people. Whatever you're doing, keep on doing it!"

Life is such a blessing!

I am a survivor. I am now cured and getting on with my life.

I don't like the word 'remission' because that implies an expectation of a return of the condition, and I most certainly do not!

However, without the cancer, I would never have had the life-changing experience of increased understanding, awareness and knowledge to make the adjustments that have completely changed my life.

I guess what I've learned is - that no matter what life throws at us, it's how we react to it, cope with it, and learn from it that makes the difference.

We all have to die sometime. It's the way we LIVE, and make the most of every moment that counts!

What made a positive difference......
